CVSKL Marks Malaysia’s First Use of Hercules™ LP for TEVAR Procedure
CVSKL is proud to be the first private hospital in Malaysia to utilise the Hercules™ LP Thoracic Stent Graft System in a TEVAR (Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair) procedure, a minimally invasive treatment for complex thoracic aortic conditions such as aneurysms and dissections. This advanced system reduces the need for extensive incisions and complex navigation, leading to shorter recovery times, lower procedural risks, and improved patient outcomes.
This milestone underscores CVSKL’s commitment to clinical excellence and the adoption of innovative, evidence-based technologies in vascular and endovascular care. The procedure was successfully led by Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeons Dr Leong Yew Pung and Dr Tan Kong Hean, with anaesthetic support from Dato’ Dr Sharil Azlan Ariffin and the dedication of our multidisciplinary clinical team.
Malaysia's First 3DStent Case Performed at CVSKL
We are proud to announce a national milestone in interventional cardiology, the successful use of the 3Dstent technology at CVSKL marking the first case in Malaysia and the second in ASEAN.

CVSKL becomes the first center in Asia to successfully treat a patient using the LithiX Hertz Contact Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) System — an innovative new technology for treating severely calcified coronary artery disease.

The LithiX IVL System provides an innovative solution with its balloon-based design, featuring low-profile metal elements that effectively break down hardened plaque while minimising damage to the vessel. CVSKL Achieves Milestone as First Hospital in Malaysia to Deploy E-nside EVAR Multibranch Stent Graft
CVSKL achieved another significant milestone by being the first hospital in Malaysia to implant the newly launched multibranched stent graft with inner branch design (E-nsideTM) for complex thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm (TAAA) surgery. The procedure was successfully performed by our Vascular and Endovascular Surgeons Dr Leong Yew Pung and Dr Tan Kia Lean. This stent graft is designed for endovascular treatments of patients with thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms (TAAA).

KTM Berhad and CVSKL had an official launch of the free rides initiative. #KnowYourOptions: Endovascular Surgery
We are proud to announce that CVSKL is the first hospital in Malaysia to introduce another treatment option under our belt - using rotational atherectomy for peripheral vessels! The system is an innovative peripheral revascularization platform designed to restore flow through the many types of lesions encountered in peripheral arterial disease (PAD). In rotational atherectomy, plaque is removed by a 'sanding' motion through concentrically rotating, specially designed tip. The use of rotational atherectomy is common in complex cardiology cases.

Setting up the CVSKL Foundation has been a long time vision of our doctors, particularly our Chairman and cardiothoracic surgeon, Tan Sri Dato' Dr. Yahya Awang.
This vision was realised as CVSKL Foundation was launched by its' Patron, Yang Di Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir along with our Board of Trustees. We have started the ball rolling by donating RM1 million with a mock cheque handover ceremony from CVSKL, represented by Datuk Dr Rosli Ali, consultant cardiologist at CVSKL and it's received by Tan Sri Datuk Seri Rashpal Singh, Chairman of CVSKL Foundation.
The Foundation aims to support medical advancement and research initiatives, increase awareness on cardiac and vascular diseases and to provide financial support to patients in need through management of funds received and raised.

CTO Live Aid 2022
CTO Live Aid 2022 took place last week and we are honored to be the only transmission site in South East Asia. Led by consultant cardiologist, Dr. Al Fazir Omar and together with Dr. Choo Gim Hooi and Datuk Dr. Rosli Ali, they performed a complex case to success in front of hundreds of doctors across the globe! The patient is recovering well and have been discharged.

CARTO V7 - First In Malaysia
CVSKL is the first hospital in Malaysia to acquire the latest 3D mapping system, CARTO 3 Version 7 to reinforce the Arrhythmia Program in CVSKL! Designed to provide a more refined mapping experience and better imaging, it allows us to identify clearly which areas in the heart is causing the arrhythmia so that ablation can be done in such a way as to minimize scarring.
Sentinel and CABG
CVSKL chalked up yet another milestone - this time being the first hospital in Malaysia to perform a bypass surgery with neuroprotection, using Sentinel. In this hybrid procedure, our heart team made up of cardiologists, Datuk Dr. Tamil Selvan, Datuk Dr. Rosli and Dr. Choo Gim Hooi ensured smooth delivery of the Sentinel device before handing over to cardiothoracic surgeon, Datuk Dr. Hamdan Leman for the bypass surgery immediately after.
CVSKL Covid-19 Vaccination Centre
CVSKL has been selected as one of the COVID-19 Vaccination Centre under the National COVID-19 Immunization Programme. No walk ins will be entertained, all registrations are done via MySejahtera.
CTO Live Aid 2021
CVSKL was one of the few live centres selected to be a part of CTO Live Aid 2021, where a marathon of cases was happening all over the world as a fundraising effort. Dr. Al Fazir Omar and Datuk Dr. Rosli Ali did a live procedure and all donations collected during the transmission were to channelled to Médecins Sans Frontières or better known as Doctors Without Borders as part of the Covid-19 relief fund.
Challenging Calcium via IVL
Adding another treatment option to our belt, our heart team performed the first intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) to treat severe calcified lesions using shockwave therapy. Using localized pulsatile sonic pressure waves, IVL selectively disrupts calcium from the arteries and minimizes trauma to the soft tissue. We are the first private hospital in Malaysia to do this.
State of the He(art): Revolution Apex
Faster. Lesser radiation. Better Imaging. The Revolution Apex is housed on Level 1 of the hospital and will enforce the Cardiac Diagnostics Centre of Excellence as a powerful imaging tool to assist our doctors by producing high quality images for an accurate diagnosis and better outcomes.
Protection Against Stroke: Sentinel
The Sentinel device stands guard against dislodged debris from reaching your brain. Two tiny filters are placed in the main arteries that carry 90% of the blood to the brain and they collect any dislodged debris, preventing it from traveling to the brain. CVSKL is proud to be the first hospital in Malaysia to utilise this device commercially, thanks to the expertise and skills of our cardiologists.

First frozen elephant trunk surgery by cardiothoracic surgeons, Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Yahya and Dr. John Chan. This method is used to treat complex aortic diseases involving the arch and is proven to have better and safer patient outcomes.
1000 procedures completed by the Endoscopy & Daycare centre
The Endoscopy & Daycare centre completed over 1000 procedures to date. Procedures include Oesophago-Gastric-Duodeno-Scopy (OGDS), Colonoscopy, OGDS and Colonoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy, Oesophageal Manometry, Oesophageal pH Study and FibroScan.
First TAVI performed
Datuk Dr Rosli Mohd Ali performed our first TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation). In Asia, there have only been about 10,000 TAVI procedures performed.
First PEARS Surgery for Aortic Root Aneurysm performed
