Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT)
Job Summary
CVT is a highly specialised diagnostician of the various presentations of cardiovascular diseases and the profession of cardiovascular technologist encompassing these sub-specialty areas:
- Non-invasive Cardiovascular Technology
- Invasive Cardiovascular Technology
- Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology Technology
Responsibilities
- Independently performs non-invasive cardiovascular investigative procedures (such as ECG, Stress Test, ECG Holter Monitoring, Blood Pressure monitoring etc).
- Analyse patient data to create information that clinicians can use.
- Assist the physician or perform TEE under supervision.
- Maintain updated knowledge in terms of products used and perioperative services.
Requirement
- Must possess any of the following qualifications: Bachelor Degree in Cardiovascular Technology / Bachelor Degree in Cardiac Physiology / Advanced Diploma in Cardiovascular Health.
- Allied Health education in either: Diploma in Medical Assistant / Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology / Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Nursing / Bachelor Degree in Biomedical Sciences.
- Allied Health Care Professionals in the above category must have at least a certificate in Cardiovascular Technology or the relevant training at a Cardiac Institution.
- Possess a valid Basic Cardiac Life for Nurses or a valud Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification for Nurses.
- Current licensure and Annual Practicing Cardiovascular Technician or any related Allied Healthcare Profession.
Qualification / Professional License
- Fresh graduate or with at least 2-3 years of working experience in NICL and Cath lab settings.
- Competing in performing ECGs, Holter Monitoring, King of Heart Event Monitoring, Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring, Stress Test, Echocardiograms, 2D Echocardiography, Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (VO2 Max).
- Competent in assisting the Cardiologist in the Cath Lab in Cardiac Diagnostic and Therapeutic Procedures such as Coronary Angiograms, Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty, Left and Right Heart Catheterisation, Peripheral Angioplasty, Rotational Atherectomy PTMC, Implantation of Intracardiac Device Occluder, Pacemaker and ICD Implantation and IABP Insertion.
