At EuroPCR 2026, our Consultant Cardiologists, Datuk Dr Rosli Mohd Ali and Dr Jayakhanthan Kolanthaivelu, joined leading heart specialists from around the world to discuss the latest advances in cardiovascular interventions.

Dr Rosli’s contributions focused on emerging treatment strategies for coronary artery disease, including hybrid percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), which combines drug-eluting stents (DES) and drug-coated balloons (DCB), as well as physiology-guided PCI, vessel restoration techniques and the management of complex coronary lesions. Among the highlights was his participation in a live educational case from Sant’Andrea University Hospital in Rome, where international experts exchanged insights on the use of functional imaging and fractional flow reserve (FFR) to guide treatment decisions in patients with complex coronary artery disease.

He also contributed to discussions on new evidence surrounding DCB technology, metal-free treatment strategies using bioresorbable scaffolds, acute heart attack (STEMI) intervention, the treatment of heavily calcified coronary arteries, and advanced approaches to calcium modification in complex coronary interventions.

Dr Jayakhanthan also contributed as a discussant in a session exploring the management of challenging heart attack cases and complex coronary interventions. He shared his perspective on a complex PCI complication case, joining fellow experts in discussions aimed at improving patient outcomes.

The insights gained from these discussions help shape everyday clinical practice and support better care for our patients.
