Overview

Clinical outcomes are generally defined as the result of health care services or interventions on the health status of a patient. In value-based care, the significant measures of quality are the outcomes that matter.

When outcomes are measured and reported, it fosters further improvement and adaption of the best latest practices towards the ultimate goal of advancing patient outcomes and improved patient care at Cardiac Vascular Sentral Kuala Lumpur (CVSKL).

Cardiology - Complex High-Risk Indicated Procedures (CHIP) Programme

Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI)

A total of 2520 PCI procedures were performed at CVSKL between year 2020 to 2022

The median length of stay (LOS) were 2 days respectively for procedures performed in the year 2020, 2021 and 2022.

The rate of in-hospital mortality for patients undergoing PCI procedures at CVSKL is lower compared to the rate of in-hospital mortality reported by the National Cardiovascular Disease Database (NCVD) for PCI.

Electrophysiology - Arrhythmia Programme

Ablation

A total of 602 ablation procedures were performed at CVSKL between year 2020 to 2022

The median length of stay (LOS) was 2 days respectively for procedures performed in the year 2020, 2021 and 2022.

There were no mortality cases reported for ablation procedures performed between years 2022 to 2022

Device Implant

A total of 206 device implant procedures were performed at CVSKL between year 2020 to 2022.

The median length of stay (LOS) were 2 days respectively for procedures performed in year 2020, 2021 and 2022.

There were no mortality cases reported for device implant procedures performed in year 2020 and 2022. However, 1 (1.7%) death was reported in year 2021.

Vascular - Vascular & Endovascular Programme

Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR), Thoracic Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (TEVAR) & Customized Medical Devices (CMD)

A total of 89 EVAR, TEVAR & CMD procedures were performed at CVSKL between year 2020 to 2022.

The median length of stay (LOS) was 4 days respectively for procedures performed in year 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Three mortality rates for EVAR, TEVAR & CMD procedures were 4.3% in the year 2020, 2.9% in the year 2021 and 3.1% in the year 2022.

Peripheral Arterial Disease – Angioplasty

A total of 180 Angioplasty procedures for Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) were performed at CVSKL between year 2020 to 2022.

The median length of stay (LOS) was 3 days respectively for procedures performed in year 2020, 2021 and 2022.

There were 2 (4.2%) deaths reported in year 2020 and no mortality cases reported in year 2021 and 2022.

Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) – Bypass

A total of 34 Bypass procedures for Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) were performed at CVSKL between year 2020 to 2022.

The median length of stay (LOS) was 8 days in year 2020 and 6 days in year 2021 and 2022.

There was 1 (1.9%) death reported in year 2020 and no mortality cases were reported in year 2021 and 2022.

Patient satisfaction evaluation is a key step in moving toward patient-centred care. At Cardiac Vascular Sentral Kuala Lumpur (CVSKL), every patient feedback is seen as an opportunity for us to improve to progress towards excellent patient experience at all times. The hospital-wide patient satisfaction survey results are a reflection of both outpatient and inpatients, rating our services as “Excellent” and “Good”.
