Overview
Cancer survival has improved over the years due to newer and better forms of treatment with chemotherapy and radiation. When treating cancer, some of the life-saving treatments can potentially affect your heart. This can occur not only during treatment but years later, once treatment is completed. This is especially true if you are at risk for heart disease. Heart problems are usually minor, and can usually be managed with screening and treatment, but can be more severe at times.
The goal of the Cardio-Oncology Centre is to help support your cancer treatment with closer monitoring of your heart and to provide long-term follow up by a Cardiologist for certain patients.

We utilise a full range of imaging, including advanced transthoracic echocardiogram and state-of-the-art Cardiac MRI technology, to detect early signs of heart problems. We also provide Cardiac CT and heart rhythm monitoring if indicated.
What we treat
The Cardio-Oncology Centre provides care for patients at various stages of cancer treatment who have, or are at risk of, heart disease. Our services include the evaluation and treatment of patients who:
- Are about to begin cancer treatment and have risk factors for heart disease.
- Are undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy and develop potential cardiac-related symptoms such as breathlessness, weakness or fatigue, swelling of the legs and feet, chest pain, irregular heartbeat, and/or dizziness. These symptoms can have different causes but you should get heart assessment.
- Have previously undergone cancer treatment and develop new cardiac problems.
- Have undergone radiation therapy in the past and require specialised cardiac follow up and treatment.
Our team of healthcare professionals offer patients:
