Athletes with heart or vascular disease or those at risk have specific goals and objectives in mind.
- They want to continue to play their sport
- They want to be safe
CVSKL’s Sports Cardiology team works with athletes across all levels – from high school and collegiate athletes, professionals, recreational exercisers and weekend warriors, to help them achieve their goals.
What we treat
What we treat
Patients visit CVSKL’s Sports Cardiology Centre for a variety of reasons, including:
- Patients with diagnosed cardiac disease but wish to remain active or compete.
- Abnormal sports screening pre-participation sports screening questionnaires.
- Guidance on returning to play.
- Abnormal results on ECG, echocardiogram, or exercise stress test.
- Signs of heart disease identified during routine examinations (e.g., heart murmur).
- New symptoms during training or competition (e.g., dizziness/syncope, chest discomfort, shortness of breath, palpitations).
- Unexplained decline in sports performance
- Congenital heart or vascular diseases.
- Risk factors or family history of cardiovascular disease or sudden cardiac death.
- Guidance for safety returning to or starting physical activity, including after medical treatment or cardiac events.
No referral is required unless your insurance provider specifies otherwise.
