KUALA LUMPUR, 12 February 2020: Tung Shin Hospital signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cardiac Vascular Sentral Kuala Lumpur (CVSKL) today, initiating a collaboration between the two hospitals for the purpose of better patient care in the country. Tung Shin Hospital, located in Jalan Pudu, is a 225-bedded multidisciplinary hospital providing comprehensive medical care to patients. CVSKL, located in KL Sentral, is a 60-bedded specialty hospital providing comprehensive and subspecialty care in cardiac and vascular medical care to patients.
As Tung Shin explores different ways of growth to provide comprehensive services to their patients, they have identified CVSKL as a partner in the provision of cardiac and vascular surgical services. In this mutually beneficial collaboration, CVSKL will also be able to extend Tung Shin’s multispecialty services to CVSKL’s patients.
Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Yahya Awang, Chairman of CVSKL said the collaboration with Tung Shin Hospital is a key element in CVSKL’s development plans: sharing of knowledge for betterment of heart health in the country.
“Cardiovascular diseases have been the leading cause of death for the past 15 years. With our collective experiences and different cardiac and vascular subspecialties that CVSKL has to offer, we look forward to working together with the doctors at Tung Shin Hospital for co-management of patients, especially for cardiac surgical cases” he said.
“Training & upskilling of nurses in advanced cardiac care is also something that we are currently developing. Tung Shin Hospital is a great partner to initiate this with, as they have an established academy of nursing and we are able to provide them with a wider range of cases with varying degrees of complexity’ Dr Yahya added.
‘At CVSKL, we recognize the importance to work with other reputable hospitals as we focus mainly on cardiac and vascular procedures. We have identified a few hospitals to initiate such partnerships that we believe will be beneficial for the patients in the country.’ he hinted.
Tan Sri Dato’ Khoo Chai Kaa, President of Tung Shin Hospital affirmed that the collaboration between both hospitals will benefit patients.
